Even and Odd Numbers How can you tell? If last digit is even, then the number is even. Ends with 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 If not even, then odd Count by twos, starting with one 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, …

Example 1 Which of these numbers is even? 358623452223 Solution: Look at the last digit of each 6 is even; and 5 and 3 are odd So 3586 is the only even number

Example 2 Which of these numbers is not odd? 123,456654,321353,535 Solution: Look at the last digit of each 6 is even; and 1 and 5 are odd So 123,456 is the only number that is not odd
