What is BMI? Body mass index (BMI) is the most common method of determining whether a persons weight fits into a healthy range. It is calculated by dividing their weight in kilograms by their height in metres squared (BMI= KG/M²)

Being overweight/underweight Underweight is defined as a BMI of less then 18.5 Overweight is defined as a BMI of 25 or over Obese is defined as a BMI of 30 or over Problems with body weight, particularly being overweight and obese, contribute to a wide range of future health problems for young people.

Negative affects Being overweight is likely to negatively affect a young persons social and emotional well being It also increases the chance of developing cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes A lack of physical activity and poor eating habits are mostly linked with obesity and being overweight

Body image Body image refers to the attitude or feelings we have about our body and the way we look or the way we think others see us. A persons body image can be either positive or negative Excursing daily or consistently along with a healthy well balanced diet, helps keep you fit and healthy, this will help keep a happy body image of yourself
