Go to Start, Programs and click on PhotoStory 3 for Windows on your Programs menu. Photo Story is free and it is easy to download.

A welcome screen will appear. Click on “Begin a New Story” and NEXT at the bottom right of the window.

The Import and Arrange screen is where you choose the pictures you want to use in the Story. Click “Import Pictures.”

A File Browser window will appear. This is where you find the location of your pictures.

You can click on the first picture you want to import and scroll down to the last picture and press the Shift key and click and it will select all of those pictures. Click OK to import all of them at one time. You can also choose pictures at different times and from different folders.

Your pictures import onto a timeline. You can change the order by using the arrows on the right or by dragging and dropping them to the location you would like.

Before clicking NEXT, you have the option to get rid of black lines around the pictures or edit the photos. Remember to save so that you do not lose any work!!

After you click NEXT, you come to the Add a title to your pictures window. You have an option to add text to any of the pictures by clicking on the picture and typing in the text. When you have added text to all pictures you wish to add text to, click NEXT.

At the Narrate your pictures and customize motion screen, you can add narration, zoom, and set the timing on each picture. Narration Button Preview Button

In the Customize Motion Screen you can click start and end position of motion and set zoom and pan features of the program. You can also choose to set the duration automatically or set the number of seconds to display the picture. Transition Tab Preview Button

Transitions determine how the video will move from one picture to the next. Transitions preview at the top of the screen. When you are finished, click Close to return to the previous window.

When you have finished with all narration and customization, click NEXT. This will bring you to the Add background music screen. You have the option to select music you have on your computer or create music. Click on select music to go to a CD or folder where you have audio files. Select music button. To create music, you can choose different genre’s, bands, and moods.

When music is selected it appears above the pictures on the timeline. Music added here.

The next step is saving the finished product. Save your story for playback on your computer. Specify where you want to save the movie as well as the name. You can choose to browse for the location. Click Next.

Photo Story is a free program but make sure that you have it downloaded before you plan to use it! The final step – At this point you want to play your story. When it plays through completely, you will find a Window Media Video (.wmv) copy of the video located in My Documents, My Videos unless you changed the default. This file can be played on any computer with a Windows Media Player.
