Location Ivory Coast is located in West Africa.
It is surrounded by Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia, and Guinea. Also called Cote d'Ivoire.

Historical Events In 1637, missionaries landed at Assignee near the Gold Coast. Ivory Coast became independent on August 7, 1960. On november 3, 1960, Ivory Coast adopts constitution

History (continued) It was important that missionaries landed in Ivory Coast because if they didn’t Ivory coast would not have been discovered. If Ivory Coast did not become independent then the French would still have control over the country. When Ivory Coast adopted a constitution it had all the countries rules so it would be civil.

On October 31, 1960, the National Assembly of Ivory Coast adopted the Constitution establishing an independent republic. Cultural Activities There is a week long carnival in Bouaké each March. One of Ivory Coast’s most famous festivals is the Fêtes des Masques (Festival of Masks) in November.
