4 Recruitment of New Members Accomplishments: Double number of registered members Goals: Increase member involvement Increase members networking opportunities

5 Focus on Robotics Program to help members develop skills aside from the classroom and lab practical –Introduction to different languages and processors –Use of robotic components Many freshman attended seminars –Basic circuit principles were introduced –Use of Microprocessors to control robotic parts

6 Events for Spring 2009 Participate in the different student Competitions at the Region 5 Conference (Robotics and circuit design competitions) Host a robotics competition before the Region 5 Conference inviting local Universities Field trip to Professional Engineering company (SWRI, CPS, HP, AMD) Community Service Activities with Service Learning Center Build gadgets to display around local high schools to expose students to engineering

7 Events for Spring 2009 Annual Oyster Bake Booth Invite guest speakers to St. Mary’s to talk about career opportunities in engineering Participate in the National Engineers Week (February 15 – 21)

8 Appealing to the Youth Visit various High Schools and Middle Schools –Future Recruitment for both IEEE and StMU –Get younger students interested in science and engineering –Explain the importance of engineering and its contributions to society
