2 Her Start ✌ Marie Josephine Rose Tascher de la Plagerie ✌ Born on June 23, 1763 ✌ Eldest Daughter of Joseph Tascher de la Plagerie ✌ Married rich young officer only after her sister died and he agreed to marry her. His name was Alexandre Victome de Beauharnais. ✌ Alexandre was ashamed of her and she ended up divorcing him. They later became friends

3 Becoming The Empress Of France ✌ Josephine had two children; a son Eugene de Beauharnias and one daughter, Hortense de Beauharnias. ✌ Napoleon wanted a beautiful wife who was only a little older than him. ✌ She was a mistress to several leading political figures. ✌ Whereupon her first meeting with Napoeleon, he fell head over heels ✌ She agreed to marry the rising young army officer after he had been appointed commander of the Italian Expedition.

Committed? ✌ Married to Napoleon in a civil ceremony on March 9, 1796. ✌ Six years older than him ✌ Crowned by her husband in the Notre-Dame cathedral. ✌ Napoleon’s family disliked her. ✌ She never responded to his love letter while he was in a campaign in Egypt in 1798-99 ✌ She flirted with many other army officers, mainly Hippoyte Charles. ✌ Napoleon threatened to divorce her but her children dissuaded him.

5 Alls well that ends well ✌ Josephine later remained loyal to him ✌ Now the tables turned and Napoleon cheated on her. ✌ Although they had their indifferences, Napoleon loved her. ✌ He later married Marie-Louise of Austria after divorcing Josephine. ✌ Josephine could no longer have children so Napoleon remarried to have his only blood heir ✌ Josephine died in 1814 and was loved by her people. ✌ Napoleon regretted their divorce. His last words were, ✌ “France, the army, Josephine.”
