Focus Standard:5.L.1d Recognize and correct inappropriate shifts in verb tense. Support Standard: Prerequisite(s):4.L.1b Form and use the progressive (e.g., I was walking; I am walking; I will be walking) verb tenses. Manipulative(s): Special Instructions: This symbol denotes the recommendation to proceed to Skill Development after teaching part of the Concept Development. This teaching strategy is referred to as “looping.” Click on the symbol to be sent to the correct location in the lesson. Note that some problems have multiple correct answers. A corrected sentence that does not match the printed answers should be accepted as long as it is correct. The focus of this lesson is on identifying and correcting inappropriate shifts in tense. Although some examples of more complex tenses are occasionally used, students are not expected to identify anything more than past, present, or future as the tense (i.e., a student identifying a past perfect verb as simply past tense is perfectly acceptable).
