Update from the Atlantis Event Display Qiang Lu, Mark Stockton, Juergen Thomas, Peter Watkins (Birmingham) Hans Drevermann (CERN) Andrew Haas (Columbia) Eric Jansen, Peter Klok, Charles Timmermans (Nijmegen, NIKHEF) Nikos Konstantinidis, Zdenek Maxa, Adam Davison (UCL) Physics Analysis Tools Meeting ATLAS Software Workshop, Munich, 27 Mar 2007

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20072 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis Outline Changes in AOD objects EventView objects on Atlantis:  Overlap-removed objects  Composite Particles Update on Trigger data New Hypernews forum NOTE: Shown features are in Atlantis versions from AtlantisJava-09-06-88

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20073 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis Changes in AOD objects Electron, Muon, TauJet are now also ‘multiple collections’. Select collection of your choice by StoreGate key from drop-down menu under Atlantis AOD panel Useful for csc12 AODs to compare Staco and MuID Muons, or TauRec and Tau1p3p Taus. (Most) Atlfast collections will be read by default if available. Please check dedicated page about running on AODs, esp about JiveXML update: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/Atlas/AtlantisWithAOD

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20074 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis EventView objects on Atlantis (1) JiveXML can be called when running EventView (tested with TopView). Instructions: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/Atlas/EventViewJiveXML This will output ‘normal’ AOD data and EventView data. EventView objects are currently filed under datatype ‘Composite Particle’ (panel under ‘AOD’). EventView name can be selected there (e.g. collection RecoView) All overlap-removed objects, and composite particle are read, e.g. W and top, with EV number and labels Many thanks to Akira Shibata !

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20075 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis EventView objects on Atlantis (2) Objects from EventView are displayed in ‘AOD’-like fashion, in same colour coding. But symbols not fully overlapping to allow direct comparison (“Which ParticleJet was overlap-removed ?” “Which Electron hasn’t passed preselection ?”)  In eta/phi projection as rotated squares (AOD objects are circles)  In rhoZ and XY projection as little towers outside detector. Inner row: AOD, Outer row: EventView objects  In Legoplot: Slim towers  Widths/heights scaled to ET Note: Associations with Track/Clusters still only possible for AOD Electron/Muon.

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20076 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis EV obj. (3) Display shows ttbar event (csc12 5200) Orange rotated squares are composite particles – they have no AOD equivalent. Here: W and top Upon ‘Pick’ on objects, all EventView labels are printed out, e.g. top CompositeParticle = 6 storegate key: RecoView Pt = -124.495 GeV E = 294.362 GeV η = 1.506 Φ = 50.749° Type = t (type code - 6) TypeEV = EVCompositeParticle Label = EV1_Top- TopWithLeptonicW-

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20077 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis EV obj. (4) Remember we always had default ‘preselection’ for AOD objects in Atlantis (‘AOD->Cuts’ panel), e.g. isEM. Switching off those default cuts, one can see EventView working (outer row of towers): None of Electrons (green) and photons (yellow) ‘good enough’ for preselection Some ParticleJets removed (pT cut), some survive. … and the new composite particles (orange) appear

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20078 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis Update on Trigger data csc12 AODs now have all L1/L2/EF trigger info: item list really large. Item list in Legoplot was rearranged, new switch added: ‘Draw items’, to avoid overlap of legend and graphics. Note: We’ve switched off ROIs by default now, as display looked too full on start-up. Switch back on in: ‘Data->Calo- >EmTauROI/JetROI’ and ‘Data->Muon- >MuonROI’ ‘

Update from Atlantis Event Display Munich, 27 Mar 20079 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch, hn-atlas-AtlantisDisplay@cern.ch http://www.cern.ch/atlantis Other News JiveXML being adapted for new EDM for release 13.0.0. Some remaining issues (TriggerDecision), but mostly works in nightly. Now broken-up in ‘package per detector’ (see Dec ’06 presentation in PAT meeting) Running from ESD tested with 12.0.61 input, see AtlantisWithAOD Twiki page (JiveXML update !) Options: athena.py optESDtoAOD.py JiveXML_ESDtoAOD.py RecExCommon_topOptions.py Calorimeter: New option: ‘ATLAS->Geometry->Show detector outline’: detectors not filled with colour. Esp useful with ‘Calo->Colour by Energy’, to easily see ‘hot’ cells (red). New layout option: 2x2 window, Improved demo mode (Control Room) TileCal commissioning: Click on cell to see ADC counts and real pulse shapes
