3. Important Terms 1. Sender (also known as the Encoder) – Person who transmits (sends) a message 2. Encode (happens internally) – THINKING of how to craft the message. Putting the message into words or gestures to transmit to the receiver 3. Message – The idea, feeling, or attitude (information) that the sender wants to convey to the receiver

Noise (Internal or External) – Anything that may interfere with the reception or understanding of a message 6. Receiver (Decoder) – The person or thing who receives the message from the sender
