Is there Workable Alternative Finance Yes! St Modwens and Other Developers: Mostly fund using Joint Ventures and Borrowing None of the above ‘Workable Alternatives’ are Supermarket Funded Problem with Leegate plans is they are supermarket funded and the supermarket is demanding to dominate the site

Do we Need a Supermarket to Create Footfall in Leegate? No! CABE (leading advisory body on urban design): ‘Good public spaces increase footfall in town centres by up to 40%’ (Civic Space) ‘Good design increases footfall’ ‘Diversity of retail, leisure, culture increases footfall’ (Diversity) Southampton Council Town Strategy: ‘successful retail environments work on the principle of a good circulatory flow’ (Permeability)
