Current state of the art: ECLAS General Assembly assigned a group of people to develop the Journal in Aas 2004 There is established a special web-space for the Journal editorial group on the Le:Notre web-site; there are currently 13 names on the list of this space – it is open to all users of the web site There is also a special discussion forum dedicated to the Journal, all 5 entries in the forum deals with the title issue ECLAS needs to make progress on this issue which has been discussed for a long time now..

Currently in progress: The Papers from the ECLAS conference have been reviewed and considered for publication, 4 papers (professional practice related) are already published in TOPOS in a theme issue about landscape architecture critique, another 5 -6 theory-related papers are planned to be published in Landscape 21. (Editor: Ivan Marusic) The ECLAS journal is included in the application for a 4th “dissemination” year in the Le:Notre project by the sum of 82.650€ - if this bid is successful there would be a sound economical basis for the first years, combined with an increased membership fee for ECLAS

How to proceed: Editorial board prepare the first issue: this should go ahead independently of the “dissemination year” proposal: The first issue could be related to the Ankara conference, or be independent of this... During the establishment period there should be an as open as possible discussion concerning the journal policy, e.g. on the L:N web-site, so that all ECLAS/LE:NOTRE-members can contribute and ensure that the journal takes a development that is truly in line with what the members of the organisation wants. Later the framework and organisational structure – including a legal foundation independent of ECLAS – may be considered and put in place.
