2. Never say Never…..  Evaluate all donors as a potential lung donor  LifeSource has one local Transplant Center that currently transplants DCD lungs. (University of MN)  Use of MNUM CT coordinators to assist in lung donor management  Evaluating and working up lungs that would have been ruled out even 2-3 years ago

3. DCD Lung Evaluation  Frequent and through DCD evaluations every 8 hours  May deflate cuff and perform CPAP evaluation  Careful consideration of bronch/rebronch  Aggressive pulmonary toileting: Metaneb q 2 hours, suctioning, nebulizer tx q 2-4 hrs, recruitment maneuvers, O2 challenges q 4 hrs

4. Outcomes  Transplanted 6 lungs from DCD donors in 2014, up from 2 in 2012 and 2013  All recipients doing well post transplant
