Water bath 1.Heats the test tube evenly 2.Can be done with hotplate or burner 3.Water level in beaker should be higher than the water level in test tube 4.Utility clamp used to stabilize test tube

Cooling hot equipment 1.Hot glass – use insulating pad and leave on lab bench until it is cool enough to touch, then run it under warm water, wipe dry with paper towel 2.Hot metal – pick up cool part and run hot part under cool water, wipe dry with paper towel

Wearing goggles Goggles should already be on and covering eyes (not forehead or neck) before you walk past the sink & dryrack in the back of the room!
