Poster and Presentation You will present your poster to the class while the class takes notes Every group member needs to present Speak Loudly and Clearly Face the Class Taking notes is part of your grade on this assignment, make sure you are actively listening and engaging. Equipment Mortar and Pestle – used to crush and blend substances together Ceramic or Clay Triangle– Used to hold/support a crucible over a bunsen burner. Thermometer – Used to take the temperature of substances.

Triple Beam Balance– used to measure mass. Wash Bottle – used to hold and dispense distilled water. Well Plate – used to run many reactions at once.

Beaker– Glass cylinder used for mixing and heating chemicals. Test Tube Brush – used to cleanout test tubes and glassware. Striker – used to ignite a Bunsen burner.

Crucible and Lid – used to heat chemicals (usually solids) to high temperatures Evaporating Dish– used to evaporate liquid away from small volume of solution. Graduated Cylinder– used accurately measure liquids.

Pipet/Dropper - used for transferring and dispensing small volumes of liquids Erlenmeyer Flask– used for mixing, heating, and storing chemicals Forceps– used handle small pieces of solid material

Funnel- used for transferring liquids from one container to another without spilling; often used during filtration. Scoopula – used to scoop (solid) chemicals and transfer them, and to scrape chemicals from containers. Spatula– used for mixing

Bunsen burner- used for heating chemicals and equipment. Clamp and Iron Ring – used to support laboratory equipment above the work surface Ring Stand– used to provide support for other equipment and a means of raising equipment above the work surface

Wire gauze - used for supporting beakers and flasks when they are being heated with a Bunsen Burner Watch Glass– used to cover a beaker, evaporate liquid, or hold solids while being weighed. Electronic Balance– used to measure the mass of substances accurately

Hot Plate– used to heat chemicals.
