2 PRESENTATION OF THE NATIONAL SCHOOL OF POLICE AT THE TIME OF THE 1 ST GREAT CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIOANAL ASSOCIATION OF THE POLICE ACADEMIES INTERPA FROM 24 th TO 27 th OF APRIL 2O12 IN ANTALYA (TURKEY)

3 The police training institution was created in 195O under the name of “Police academy of the Territories of French Western Africa” before becoming in 1959, the (Police Academy of the Federation of Mali”. After the bursting of the latter, it became “the National School of Police force of Senegal”.

4 It is in 1975 that it is transformed into (National School of Police force and Continuing education). It is one of the ten (10) Directions which compose the General Direction of National Police force.

5 This specialized educational establishment is in charge of the initial and continuous vocational training of the personnel of the police force “Superintendants, senior police officers, deputy senior officers and Policemen” and other administrations, in particular the Prison authorities, all confused categories

6 To date that Police training institution has educated several nationalities (tchad, Burkina Faso, Niger, Africa Center Republic and Island of the Comoros).

7 In addition, The National School of Police force and Continuing education is working away to answer, more than ever, with the requirements of modernity to which such an educational establishment must face, with effectiveness, its mission consisting in preparing police officers of all ranks to being guarantors of the safety of the goods and the people, and that of law and order enforcement and the safety of the State

8 The personnel of the National School of Police force and continuing education, is constituted of the management staff, the teaching personnel and that of supervising. The training personnel is composed of permanent personnel and frees lances who may be either police officers, experienced civil servants of the administrative and legal order and academics among others.

9 more develop To the lecturing given within this institution of formation by giving it an international label, a project of partnership with the university Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar and other national and international institutions are currently being studied.

10 More over, a project aiming at transforming the National School of Police force and Continuing education into an Academy of Police force with regional vocation, which will be an analysis and think tank on the subjects in connection with safety and the problems involved in delinquency, is under realization. There will be within it a center of peacekeeping and language laboratory (English).

11 Teaching syllabus. Concerning the initial formation which takes two (2) years duration, teaching relates to the modules hereafter: Some are specific to each body while others are common to all the bodies but the approaches and the contents differ from a body to another.

17 These lessons will be supplemented by training courses of the setting in professional situation in the various active services of the national police force but also by cycles of conferences animated by experts and dealing with the topics interesting the services of safety in particular the criminality, the bleaching of capital, international crimes, etc.

19 retraining to the evolution and the requirements of modernity. It is organized in a periodic way on the initiative of the police authorities or within the framework of the international cooperation by using the expedient of the ambassadors accredited in Senegal.
