Leonardo Da Vinci Life Dates: 1452-1519 Leonardo was the first painter to apply linear perspective. He discovered the farther away things are the blurrier they get. Da Vinci was the first to use light in paintings. He made things round and created shadows Mona Lisa The Last Supper

Michelangelo Life Dates: 1475-1564 Was a painter, sculpture, and architect He thought painters were weak artists Had to be inspired to create art work He was often dissatisfied with himself and his work. David Sculpture Sistine Chapel Ceiling

Vincent Van Gogh Life Dates: 1853- 1890 He cut off part of his ear because he had psychosis Committed suicide by shooting himself and died 4 days later Van Gogh lived and worked as a peasant Starry Night Irises

Pablo Picasso Life Dates: 1886 – 1973 Had a blue period, rose period, and cubic period Changed the way he painted every time he changed his wife Picasso showed more than one view point in his paintings Still Life on a Pedestal Table Blue Guitar

Norman Rockwell Life Dates:1894- 1978 Painted daily life for magazines Made over 100 illustrations for the boy scouts book He painted labels for Jell-O and coke Run-Away The Check-up
