Degas was born in Paris and died in Paris. Oldest of 5 children. Mom died when he was 13 years old. Never married ; led a lonely life He was known for painting, sculpture, drawing More than half of his works depict dancers

Lightly sketch a circle for a head in the center of the page. Draw a “u” shape below the circle for the chest. Draw another “u” shape below the first “u” for the rest of the chest. Draw arms connected to first “u” shape. Draw a large circle around the head and arms to form the skirt. Draw one leg at the top of the skirt at an angle and the other leg at the bottom of the skirt. Draw a horizon line in the background. Color the ballerina by dipping bright chalk pastels in white paint to give the look of Impressionism.
