Scientists use many skills to gather information. Most science skills use your 5 senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting.

Observing - using your 5 senses Measuring – compare unknown quantity with known quantity Inferring – make conclusion based on facts without observations Classifying – grouping like things Organizing – put information in order Researching – “re” again, “search” look for. Ex. Library work or experiments. Communicating – sharing information, Ex. Teaching or writing. Predicting – state ahead of time what you think will happen based upon what you already know. Hypothesizing – suggested solution to problem based on what you already know. Modeling – copy of what you are studying to help with understanding. Ex. Atomic model Analyzing – study information carefully.
