Aim: How do find the limit associated with horizontal asymptote? Do Now: 1.Sketch f(x) 2.write the equation of the vertical asymptotes
3
x = -1x = 1
4
Do the limit exist at x = -1 and x = 1?
6
Find the limit
7
Find the limit as x approaches for each of the following function a. b. c. a. = 0
8
b. c. In this case, we can conclude that the limit does not exist because the numerator increases without bound as the denominator approaches 3.

From the above examples, we observe that 1.When the degree of the numerator is less than the degree of the denominator, the limit is 0. 2.When the degree of the numerator and denominator are equal, the limit is the ratio of the coefficients of the highest-powered terms. 3. When the degree of the numerator is greater than the degree of the denominator, the limit does not exist.
