Why do I need to do an event? Overview The purpose of participating in an event is to: Gain exposure within the community Exponentially grow your database Leverage the “gained” database with the participating merchants

What do I need to do to get into an event? Identify the event in your area that is right for you: Home and Garden shows Food and drink events County Fairs Holiday events (4 th of July, Summer Days events, Halloween, Xmas tree lightings, etc.) These events you want to be in will have local merchant booths. They should also have many consumers and business owners attending.

What do I need to do to get into an event? You probably already know of the events in your hometown, but if you don’t, here are some ways to find out the when and where’s: Search “Your City Festivals” Search “Your County Fairs” Search “Your City” Search “Your City Chamber of Commerce” You can also check out sites like: Foodreference.com Homeownernet.com

How do I get a booth at an event? Meet with the appropriate people that are promoting and running the event and discuss opportunity to database a majority of the consumers attending: Can we “barter” that? YES Can we keep that event on our website to show our community involvement? YES Can we do it every year? If it supplies you with the right mix of consumers and merchants, YES. If it is a show that will not allow barter. The initial cost should be covered by accounts closed after.

I have a booth. What else do I need? Necessary things for your booth: Someone to help Sign up slips (lots of them) Banners; at least 1 Prizes to offer in a giveaway; either from your merchants or that you have purchased Table/Stool/Flyers Other helpful tools: Computer with Internet connection Promotional Giveaways (SV Bags, SV pens, etc.)

It’s Show Time, Have some fun!! Encourage sign ups by talking about: Your Giveaways Your Merchants SuddenValues (weekly email update, loyalty programs) Scripts to get you started: “Do you use coupons or want to use coupons?” While people are filling out the slip: “Do you own a local business or work here locally?”

It’s Show Time, Have some fun!! Other steps: Get around and meet the other merchants participating Make sure the event promoters see you early and often Maybe provide a game (Nerf dart guns, putting contest, etc.) Constantly Sign People Up!!!

The Event is Over, Now the Fun really Begins Set appointments with the merchants that participated in the event: “It was great to see you at the event, I wanted to see if you would like to continue marketing to the consumers that attended and tell you a little bit about what I do. Would Thursday or Friday be better?” Advantages: They know you’re an owner They already know you have lots of contacts Leverage, Leverage, Leverage

Was that the right event? After the event, make plans to be involved in it next year. We suggest that you participate in at least one event a year for the community involvement, growth of your database and to gain additional merchants. If you would like to attend more, go for it.
