Nordplus Higher Education How to write a good application? Kenneth Lundin (CIMO), Kristina Savikurki (CIMO), Vitalij Zenčenko (ŠMPF) November 24, 2015 Vilnius
2
1. General information: what’s a N+ HE network eligible activities under Nordplus HE 2. Relevance, objectives, innovation 3. Organisation & implementation 4. Dissemination 5. Renewal applications 6. Dos and don’ts: summary 7. Statistics: success rate
3
General information: What’s a Nordplus Higher Education network? At least 3 HEIs from 3 programme countries If only mobility, 2 HEIs from 2 countries. No priority! 1 coordinator, partners. Rotation possible every year. The coordinator submits the application signs the grant agreement submits the final report i.e. responsible for the grant awarded to the whole network
4
General information: Activities (1) I. Mobility (within network) - Student mobility for studies. 1–12 months. - Student mobility for traineeships. 1–12 months. - Express mobility (for studies). 1 week – 1 month. - Teacher mobility. 8 working hours – Not supported: student mobility of 3 rd cycle students.
5
General information: Activities (2) II. Projects Intensive courses (= Intensive programmes under LLP/Erasmus) Joint study programmes Development projects 2 renewals in three consecutive years are possible. Not supported: research activities, further education, surveys. III. Network support Mostly for establishing new networks: to plan activities, mobility flows Sometimes for development of existing networks
6
Application form Relevance, objectives and innovation Organisation and implementation Dissemination
7
Relevance, objectives and innovation What’s the idea? What do you expect to achieve? Aims? Why is it important? What’s new, innovative? Why must it be international (Baltic and/or Nordic)? Why is it important to have the partner you’ve chosen?
8
Organisation and implementation How do you intend to achieve the aims? What exactly do you do? Activities? Where? Working plan? Will there be renewals? Who’s taking part and why? Role/specific task of each partner? Who does what? → Collaboration of ALL partners! How is the collaboration organised?
9
Dissemination What are the results? What do you do with the results? Who do you share them with? Benefits for which target group? Within your HEIs / external target groups? Possible multiplying effects?
10
Renewal applications Same project – max 3 times in 3 consecutive years, i.e. 1 new application + 2 renewals Activities already implemented? Changes to the initial work plan? Why? Activities that you are applying for this time? Work plan for the next year? (except for IC)
11
Benefits of coordinating the project (as defined by Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre) Increasing the internationalisation at your HEI Increasing attractiveness of your HEI Deeper field-specific cooperation with Nordic-Baltic HEIs Financial advantage: up to 5 % of used grant can be spent on administrative costs.
12
Do’s and Don’ts YesNo Clear description of idea.Vague description of intentions Details about the need, innovative aspects of your project General statements about some meetings & discussions ‘in order to identify a problem’, etc. Indicate the strengths of each partner.Focus only on coordinating institution. Collaboration of ALL partners. Labour division. Specific tasks for each partner. The coordinator does everything. Be specific on what you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it and who will benefit from it. Details, examples, quotations are usually better that general information. General information is mostly not convincing.
