1
Kinetic-Molecular Theory of Gases a model that is used to predict gas behavior
2
Assumption 1: Gases consist of many tiny particles that are far apart relative to their size.
3
Assumption 2: Collisions between gas particles and container walls are elastic collisions. No energy is lost in the collision.
4
Assumption 3: Gas particles are always moving rapidly, randomly and continuously.
5
Assumption 4: Gas particles are not attracted nor repel each other
6
Assumption 5: The energy of gas particles depends on the temperature
7
Ideal Gas Fits all 5 assumptions of the kinetic- molecular theory. There are no ideal gases in real life, but some come pretty close under certain conditions.
8
Real Gas Behavior is more complex The particles exert some attractive forces on each other
9
Kinetic-Molecular Theory Create a brochure of the theory Must have a title page with the theory name and your name on it. Rephrase the assumptions Include 5 pictures to represent the theory (1 per assumption)
