North  The North had big factories and they made their finished goods quicker  Woman/Immigrant labor in the factories  Some factories were very crowded  The Woman/immigrants worked long hours for little pay  Their factories got their cotton from the South  They used water power to run machines in factories

4. South  Small Farms  Only 25% of people in the south owned slaves  Invested in Slaves rather than machines  If slaves were caught not doing their job they would get a metal collar put on their necks  The slaves were sold and bought, and sometimes taken away from their family  No pay!
