2. The Holy Spirit… Conjures up a spectrum of beliefs and Questions: –“It” vs. “Him” –Pentecostalism  Holy Spirit works through the word of God. How about: Indwelling or not?

3. Some Things Are Hard We cannot see the Holy Spirit. We don’t want to sound or appear “charismatic” The influence of certain views regarding the Holy Spirit.

4. Thus, when it comes to an understanding of the Holy Spirit some have difficulty accepting what the word of God explicitly reveals.

5. 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?”

6. Romans 8:9-11 “However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you… But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you…

7. 2 Timothy 1:14 “Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.”

8. God’s Gift To Believers: His Spirit Attached to the greatest gift given to man – salvation – is God Himself! God gives His Spirit to all who are added to our Lord’s church. Acts 2:38ff The result: believers are sealed in His Spirit. Eph. 1:13

9. Do You Believe? That the spirit that you have dwells within you? Cp. 1 Cor. 2:11 That an outside spirit has ever “entered” the body of a person? Matt. 8:16 If we can believe these truths what keeps us from accepting that God can place the Holy Spirit within believers?

10. If The Holy Spirit dwells within us… what is His purpose?

11. The Holy Spirit… Came to convict the world. Jn. 16:8-11Came to convict the world. Jn. 16:8-11 Gives gifts to the body. Rom. 12:6ffGives gifts to the body. 12. We may not know how God’s Spirit dwells in us…but He does. We may also not know how He works in the lives of men today…but He does. Do not grieve the Spirit by whom we have been sealed! Eph. 4:30
