KS2 English Reading Test Monday 9 May Test consists of a reading booklet and separate answer booklet Pupils will have a total of 1 hour to read the 3 texts in the reading booklet and complete the questions at their own pace The least-demanding text will come first with the following texts increasing in difficulty There will be a mixture of genres of text but there will be a greater emphasis on fictional texts, possibly a classic text thrown in for good measure

KS2 English Reading Test Monday 9 May There is also a greater emphasis on the comprehension elements of the new curriculum (e.g. inference, language, structure and presentation) Pupils can approach the test as they choose (e.g. working through one text and answering the questions before moving on to the next) The questions are worth a total of 50 marks

KS2 English Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling Test Tuesday 10 May Paper 1 focus is on grammar and punctuation Greater focus on knowing and applying grammatical terminology with the full range of punctuation tested Questions consist of a single test paper Pupils will have 45 minutes to complete the test The questions are worth 50 marks in total

KS2 English Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling Test Tuesday 10 May Paper 2 spelling consists of an answer booklet and a transcript for the administrator to read Pupils will have 15 minutes to complete the test, but it is not strictly timed, by writing 20 missing words in sentences in the answer booklet The questions are worth 20 marks in total

KS2 Mathematics Test Wednesday 11 May & Thursday 12 May Paper 1: Arithmetic test assesses basic mathematical calculations The test consists of a single test paper, containing 36 questions which are worth a total of 40 marks The questions will cover straightforward addition and subtraction and more complex calculations with fractions worth 1 mark each, and long divisions and long multiplications worth 2 marks each Pupils have 30 minutes to complete the test

KS2 Mathematics Test Wednesday 11 May & Thursday 12 May Papers 2 and 3 each consist of a single test paper, focus on reasoning Pupils will have 40 minutes to complete each test Each paper will have questions worth a total of 35 marks In some answer spaces pupils need to show their method No calculators allowed

KS2 English Writing SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday 27 May Teacher assessment is the primary outcome for accountability Pupils have to complete at least 6 pieces of extended writing, one of which must be a story Pupils will be grouped into 4 categories: Working towards the expected standard Working at the expected standard Working at greater depth within the expected standard Additional category for those who do not meet the ‘working towards’ standard

KS2 Science SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday 27 May Teacher assessment is the primary outcome for accountability Science sampling tests may take place over a two week period beginning 6 June Pupils will be grouped into 2 categories: Working at the expected standard Additional category for those who do not meet that standard

Reporting Each pupil will receive: a raw score (the number of marks awarded) a scaled score confirmation of whether or not they have attained the expected standard

Reporting For the KS2 tests a scaled score of 100 will always represent the ‘expected standard’ A pupil’s scaled score will be based on their raw score The scaled score will reflect how each pupil has performed in the tests compared to other Year 6 pupils nationally Pupils should know their results week beginning 4 July

Tips for SATS Week Breakfast before arrival Optional toast upon arrival Early / regular bedtimes Arrive at school on time Equipment for tests provided (but will need bags/pencil cases for the afternoon) Maintain usual home routine
