3. Local Jobs and Supply Chains What’s in it for your business? Warrington is home to around 8000 businesses employing 115 000 people. It was the fourth highest for job growth in the UK, and one of the few ‘cities’ in the country which economy improved in the second half of the recent recession. This workshop delivered by Warrington & Co will demonstrate how you can be part of this thriving growth by :- Offering a free recruitment service from a range of partners including apprenticeships and links to skills and training opportunities. Introducing an Employer Pledge with details of the range of services available from a range of partners. Encouraging businesses to think local in terms of their staff, suppliers and partners. Initiating local partnerships and supply chain. Finding win-wins for the mutual benefit of businesses and local residents. Understanding how to strengthen and build upon the local economy in order to sustain current growth.

4. Employment Support The Employment Development Team work in full partnership to deliver a range of employment support projects that are both employer-led (helping with recruitment drives, co-ordinating/hosting open days/interviews) and client-led (tailored approach according to individual needs and preferences). These can typically include:- Pre-recruitment training & skills development: Bespoke or sector specific employability skills training for local residents linked to guaranteed interviews with the employer. Recruitment: Support available for both large and small scale recruitment projects at no cost to the employer through a full partnership approach. Apprenticeships: Advice and support available on apprenticeships and funding. Workforce development: Support and guidance on creating skills development packages to suit the business needs.

5. Employment Development Team Helps residents from priority groups and target areas to improve their employability skills and ultimately gain employment. Working in total partnership with external organisations, other statutory bodies and local voluntary/community groups to deliver a range of employment support projects and to provide a total package of support for business. A Local Employment Agreement, through our planning conditions, covers job vacancies, guaranteed interviews, specific/bespoke training needs, skills update, Apprenticeships, site visits, work experience etc. Some employer examples: NEXT, Brakes, Travis Perkins, Lafarge Tarmac, Foresight Restaurants, ASDA, McLaren………. Established & Chair 2 partnerships: WESAG/TPN – both recognised & well attended.

9. Business Engagement & Support

11. Warrington Skills Forum Warrington & Co co-ordinates the work of Warrington Skills Forum. This is a business-led group, bringing together employers and skills providers, with the aim of ensuring that skills delivery meets the needs (current and future) of local businesses. Outcomes have included a worked-up proposal for a Manufacturing and Distribution Engineering centre, a new social care recruitment model, and closer working between engineering employers and school science teachers. The Forum analyses occupational data to prioritise and give a voice to businesses in sectors with the highest numbers of local employees or those with current or anticipated future recruitment issues.
