2 What is biological pest control? Biological pest control is the process of getting rid of invasive species to an ecosystem. In agriculture, it is when farmers kill pests that are harmful to crops.

3 How does biological pest control work? A new species is released into the environment This new species is supposed to regulate a pest or other invasive species An example is ladybugs, which eat plant destroying pests

4 What are the positive effects? Positive result is when pest population diminishes Entire ecosystems can be saved Example: The California citrus industry was devastated by a pest which was wiped out by using Biological pest control

5 What are the negative effects? Added species sometimes targets native species Can end up decreasing Biodiversity Domino effect can take place and an entire ecosystem can collapse
