Table of Contents Global hungerobesity Investigating in nutrition Nutrition Industry How Nutrition Effects Efficiency
3
Global Hunger Stats Poor nutrition causes nearly half of deaths in children under five- 3.1 million children each year Hunger kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria & tuberculosis combined 842 million people in the world do not have enough to eat. This number has fallen by 17% since 1990. The vast majority of hungry people live in developing countries where 14.3% of the population is undernourished It has been calculated that $3.2 billion is needed per year to reach all the hungry school-age children

Obesity Obesity is a complex disorder involving an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity isn't just a cosmetic concern. It increases your risk of diseases and health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.
6
Obesity Healthy living the new fad, however, healthy food can get expensive. The wealthier people can afford all of the juices and organic foods. Value Menus are popping up everywhere making it cheaper for people to grab something cheap from the closest fast food restaurant.

More than one-third of adults and 17% of youth in the United States are obese Percent of adults age 20 years and over who are overweight, including obesity: 69.0% (2011-2012) More than 2 in 3 adults are considered to be overweight or obese. More than 1 in 6 children and adolescents ages 6 to 19 are considered to be obese.
9
The Economy & Obesity Obese workers miss more days of work and cost employers more in medical and disability claims as well as workers compensation claims. As a result, an average firm with 1,000 employees faces $285,000 per year in extra costs associated with obesity.

Specific Nutrients Used to Produce Labor Outcomes Several studies have demonstrated that there is a causal effect of iron deficiency on reduced work capacity Iron plays an essential role in oxidative energy production. Iron-deficiency anemia (IDA, with a low level of hemoglobin in combination with low iron stores) is associated with, inter alia, a greater susceptibility to disease, fatigue, and reduced cognitive development.
16
Specific Nutrients Used to Produce Labor Outcomes The demonstration that iron deficiency impedes maximal capacity and endurance does not reveal the economic consequences of iron deficiency in daily life These consequences may be more closely aligned with energy efficiency

Iron Supplement Study - In a randomized treatment-control study, female cotton mill workers in China who received iron supplementation for 12 weeks were found to have a 5% increase in gross and net energy efficiencies, compared to the controls who received a placebo. -Treatment led to significantly reduced heart rates and a 17% increase in production efficiency but no increase in work output, perhaps because output was constrained by the (conveyor belt) technology of the mill and depended on the outputs of co-workers. The treated women did, however, spend more time and expend more energy on non-work activities. Similarly, female tea plantation workers in Sri Lanka who received iron supplementation did not increase their output but showed an increase in other voluntary activities Compared with the results for iron deficiency, studies of less specific food supplementation interventions are not as clear. Sugarcane cutters in Guatemala who received calorie supplements were no more productive than the controls

What I learned I learned how to change the theme and you can see that change on all of the slides. I learned how to add a note: applied on the first slide I learned how to add some animations: applied on the 2 nd, 3 rd, 5 th, & 6 th slides I learned how to change the effects on a picture: applied on slide 7 I also learned how to insert a SmartArt: applied on slide 2
