2  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5  The fear of the L ORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Prov 1:7  The wise in heart will receive commands, But a prating fool will fall. Prov 10:8

3  We will contrast the characteristics of the wise with that of the fool.  (See the stark contrasts!)  Our objective is to reflect on our own character, and…  Seek to make better decisions that will lead to a more enriched life now.  Seek to make decisions that will lead to an eternal abode with God in heaven!

4  The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother. Prov 10:1  The wise in heart will receive commands, But a prating fool will fall. Prov 10:8  Wise people store up knowledge, But the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. Prov 10:14  He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding. Prov 12:11

5  The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise. Prov 12:15  Proverbs 24:5-6  Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction, But he who regards a rebuke will be honored. Prov 13:18  When the scoffer is punished, the simple is made wise; But when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge. Prov 21:11  The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Prov 18:15

6  He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. Prov 13:20  The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit. Prov 14:8  The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps. Prov 14:15  We must thoughtfully plan for our future, while keeping God foremost in our plans (James 4:13-17)

7  Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding, But a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding. Prov 10:13  In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. Prov 10:19  A prudent man conceals knowledge, But the heart of fools proclaims foolishness. Prov 12:23  The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness. Prov 15:14

8  The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. Prov 15:2  The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, But the heart of the fool does not do so. Prov 15:7  He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Prov 17:27

9  He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, But a man of understanding holds his peace. Prov 11:12  He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly. Prov 14:29  Wisdom rests in the heart of him who has understanding, But what is in the heart of fools is made known. Prov 14:33  Proverbs 17:27-28

10  To do evil is like sport to a fool, But a man of understanding has wisdom. Prov 10:23  The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps. Prov 14:15  A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished. Prov 22:3; 27:12

11  If a wise man contends with a foolish man, Whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace. Prov 29:9  A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back. Prov 29:11  Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him. 5 Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes. Prov 26:4-5

12  When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom. Prov 11:2  In the fear of the L ORD there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge. 27 The fear of the L ORD is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death. Prov 14:26-27  The fear of the L ORD is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility. Prov 15:33

13  A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; The simple pass on and are punished. Prov 27:12 The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."  To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good. Psalms 14:1 (NKJV)

14  The sad thing is that the genuine fool could read these words, and they would make no impression upon him (Prov. 19:25).  Usually, there is a little foolishness in all of us.  Let us be diligent to change certain behaviors, and deliver ourselves from many of their pitfalls.  The wonderful thing is that we can be busy in gaining wisdom!!  Pray for wisdom!  Seek after wisdom!
