Types of data

There are two types of data: Discrete Continuous You could have data taking on any value between the highest and lowest values. So anywhere on the blue line would be a possible data value. This type of data can only take certain values. These can be integers or fractional values such as halves or quarters. But no numbers are allowed in between. If using integers, then only the red numbers would be possible data values. www

Bias

To conduct a survey, you take a sample from the population. A selection of people or objects – normally between 5% and 10% of the population The whole body of people or objects you wish to survey How should you do this?

You could select randomly… But this could create a biased view.

You could consider the population’s make-up and try to ensure that each group is represented proportionally…
