Monitoring Recall Monitoring Farm Tasks write plain text files Plain text files can be taken by a PVSS project which –Displays the analysis from the monitoring farm –Writes to the condition database. 4. ECS for the shutdown In principle, ECS is working acceptably well Use principle –Does it Work ? Leave it as is. Recall we shall have a long shutdown. Major changes to be posponed for the shutdown. 5. Move recipes to CondDB Most of our recipes are currently is the project cache –OK provided the projects is not corrupted. –This caused the loss of some HV recipes in may. Virtualization Proposal from ONLINE group ECS PCs get old Proposal to overcome the potential hardware failures, –use virtual machines Problem : SPECS PCI cards –USB cards can be easily virtualized –PCI cards need to be bound to specific hardware Plan : start by PCs with no attached hardware –Ex: lbecs01 or caecs01 –Direct control machines would be virtualized in the future If SPECS-USB ever comes… If not, leave just SPECS PCI cards and dim servers.
