3. Rewards and Penalties Key REWARDS Congratulations! You have found a delicious and nutritious patch of sea grass! If you are an adult turtle, roll the dice again and have another go! Hurrah! A new Marine Protected Area (MPA) has been created - if you are a hatchling or an adult turtle, move forward one space. Great news! A hatchery has been built on your beach to protect green turtle nests. If you are an egg, roll the dice again and have another go! Brilliant! Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) are being used in your area to help turtles escape from fishing nets. Collect a TED card…this may come in handy for an adult turtle! Woah! You’ve come across a huge jellyfish bloom! If you are a hatchling, gorge yourself on these tasty treats and move forward two spaces. TED

4. PENALTIES Uh-oh! A storm has caused your nest to flood, and so the temperature conditions within the nest have changed. If you are an egg, it is going to take longer for you to hatch - miss a go. Disaster! Feral pigs are running riot on your nesting beach, digging up and destroying lots of turtle nests, and eating the eggs. If you are an egg, go back to the start and wait for your next go. Several plastic bags are floating around at sea, looking suspiciously like jellyfish. Bad move - you’ve accidentally eaten a plastic bag, so if you are a hatchling, miss a go. Confusion! A new hotel has opened on your nesting beach, creating lots of light pollution. If you’re a hatchling, miss a go, as the artificial light has caused you to go the wrong way, taking you longer to get to the sea.

5. A predatory crab is scuttling along the beach, looking for an easy meal. Bad news if you’re a hatchling - you’ve been eaten! Go back to the start of this round and wait for your next go. PENALTIES Oh no! Pollution on your nesting beach is reaching an all-time high, leaving little space for nesting females. If you are an adult turtle, miss a go, as you’ll have to go back to sea for now and return again at another time to lay your eggs. Danger! Fishing levels in your area have increased, with nets being cast everywhere. If you’re an adult, bad luck - you’ve been caught in one. Go back to the start of this round and wait for your next go. NOTE: If you’ve won a TED card, use this now to escape the net and stay put!
