2 Hawksbill - Eretmochelys imbricata common
Characteristics of the Hawksbill: - beak-like face - overlapping scutes - serrated edge of carapace - yellow underside

3 Green turtle - Chelonia mydas common
Characteristics of the Green: - round face - tightly joined scutes - smooth edge of carapace - white underside

4 Loggerhead - Caretta caretta occasional
Characteristics of the Loggerhead turtle: - massive head - reddish-brown color - only adult are usually seen around Bonaire

5 Leatherback - Dermochelys coriacea rare
Characteristics of the Leatherback turtle: - very large - keeled carapace - black and white body - open water only

6 Olive Ridley - Lepidochelys olivacea rare
Characteristics of the Olive Ridley turtle: - smallest sea turtle - max. length 28 inch - over 6 lateral scutes - light gray color

7 Hatchling Sea Turtles Sometimes look very different from adults. Clockwise from top: hawksbill, green and leatherback turtle.
