PREP - Post Registration Education and Practice The PREP (practice) Standard The PREP (continuing professional development) Standard

States that you must of: ` Worked in some capacity by virtue of your nursing qualification during the previous three years for a minimum of 450 hours or have successfully undertaken an approved return to practice course within the last three years`

States that: `You must have undertaken and recorded your continuing professional development over the three years prior to the renewal of your registration’

Include: A list and description of your workplace or organisation and your role for the last three years; The nature of the learning activity; Description of the learning activity-what did it consist of? Outcome of the learning activity-how did the learning relate to your work?

Can help Identify the outcomes of the learning activities and their impact on fitness to practise; That learning activities are relevant to the current area and scope of practice and that they help improve practice; The submission and assessment of evidence; Help you keep an online record of CPD activities.

Promote the Prep Handbook; Promote a learning zone; Support e-portfolio; Link the Journal Club seminars to PREP guidelines; Provide tools to assist with reflection.

CPD evidence should reflect role and focus on linking theory to practice: The journal club can help with this. As an RCN ULRs I can help by informing members of PREP Standards and support with portfolio development; Revalidation is on it`s way – This Journal Club can help you with this!
