Where is Haiti located? Haiti officially the Republic of Haiti is a Caribbean country. Along with the Dominican Republic, it occupies the island of Hispaniola, in the Greater Antillean archipelago. Ayiti (lan d of high mountains) was the indigenous Taíno or Amerindia n name for the mountainous western side of the island. The country's highest point is Pic la Selle, at 2,680 metres (8,793 ft).

Sports: some people play blagaball [blaj-ah- ball], its sort of like baseball, but you use an orange, any stick, and to get a home run, you have to break the orange

Government and Politics: The government of Haiti is a semi-presidential republic, a pluriform multiparty system wherein the President of Haiti is head of state elected directly by popular elections. The Prime Minister acts as head of government and is appointed by the President, chosen from the majority party in the National Assembly. Executive power is exercised by the President and Prime Minister who together constitute the government.

Famous people/role model: Danticat was born in Port-au- Prince, Haiti. When she was two years old, her father André emigrated to New York, to be followed two years later by her mother Rose. After graduating from Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn, New York, Danticat entered Barnard College in New York City. Initially she had intended on studying to become a teacher, but her love of writing won out and she received a BA in French literature. In 1993, she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Brown University—her thesis, titled "My turn in the fire - an abridged novel", was the basis for her novel Breath, Eyes, Memory, which was published by Soho Press in 1994.

What do you like the most about Haiti? The earthquake has destroyed everything in haiti. There is nothing to “like” now.
