Language Arts/Writing n D.O.L.- Learning what makes good sentences, assessed weekly (graded) n Parts of Speech- Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives n Spelling- tested weekly (graded) n Writing Mechanics n Writing Genres with rubric: –Narrative- 1 st 9 Weeks –Opinion- 2 nd 9 Weeks –Information- 3 rd 9 Weeks –Review 4 th Nine Weeks

Accelerated Reader (AR) Leveled reading program that allows students to read books and take a comprehension test Folders/Library Books home to school every day Color Code System used in library Read book 2-3x independently or with adult Student takes quiz on computer once folder is filled out for that book Goal is 2 or 3 quizzes a week (in the beginning) Goal for 60% or higher on quizzes Prizes given out on Fridays for every 5 points earned (ex. 5 points=sticker, 10 points=tattoo) Will begin by Fall Break

Math Math Skills 1 st 9 weeks: n counting numbers forward and backward 0- 120 n reading and writing numbers 0-120 n representing numbers 0-120 n skip counting by 2, 5, and 10 (incorporates money) n making numbers using 10-frames n addition fast fact fluency n organize, read, and answer/ask questions about a graph

Science and STEM n Weather n Heat, Light and Sound n Magnets n Needs of plants and animals n Focus on hands-on, problem-based projects n Stem Process: Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Improve
