3 Slope-Intercept Form Formula: y=mx+b b=y-intercept Write in slope-intercept form: (1,3) m=2y=mx+b 3=2(1)+by=2x+1 3=2+b 1=b

5 Horizontal & Vertical Lines Vertical Lines x = 2 Horizontal Lines y = 2 x = -3 y = -3

6 Graphing Lines Change the equation into slope-intercept form 1st

7 X-intercept and Y-intercept X-intercept: pt where the line crosses the x-axis Y-intercept: pt where the line crosses the y-axis To find the x-intercept: plug 0 in for y and solve for x 2x + 4y = 82x +4(0) = 8 2x = 8 x = 4 To find the y-intercept: plug 0 in for x and solve for y 2x + 4y = 82(0) + 4y = 8 4y = 8 y = 2 To graph: Find the x-intercept and y- intercept and then plot the intercepts and draw the line connecting them
