Just belief, faith, God’s graceBelief + works/good deeds Paul: If you say, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe that in your heart you will be saved (Romans 10:9) James: Faith without works cannot save us (James 2:14) Paul: By grace…through faith…not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9) James: Faith without works is dead and useless (James 2:17, 22, 26) Paul: God saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but by His mercy (Titus 3:5)

We are saved by putting our faith (trust, belief) in God’s grace (Jesus’ gift of forgiveness). We don’t save ourselves; God saves us – it’s His gift when we believe. Our works don’t save us, so we can’t say, “I’m good enough to get to heaven.”
