2
Starting a Match 6 Players. –3 males and 3 females –2 males and 4 females Can start with 4 players, but must be equal or more females.

Boundaries Boundaries are the basketball out of bounds lines. Jail is highlighted in pink. Can only leave boundaries to retrieve balls and must immediately return through the endline.
4
Jail Only Jailbirds are allowed in jail, if non-jailbirds enter jail they are “out” and must go to jail. Jailbirds can be freed by catching a live ball, the individual who catches the ball is immediately freed. Jailbirds can also be freed if ball is made in the hoop above them, freeing everyone. If a Jailbird interferes with an opposing player or steps out of jail to catch a ball, the ball is considered dead

Jail cont. There are no “free backs” when released from jail. No Free Backs means players released from jail must immediately return to their side, but are eligible to be eliminated if struck by a live ball even if thrown by own team. Jailbirds cannot leave jail unless released. **As soon as both feet cross the line you are eligible to get hit

The ball is live off the backboard. i. Players are still eligible to be out if struck by ball off back board. ii. “Jailbirds” are eligible to catch a ball off backboard and are released from jail. “Jailbirds” are allowed to throw back balls to their team as long as they DO NOT leave jail to retrieve a ball. Winning To win the match, win the most games within the 45 minutes. To win a game, team must completely eliminate opposing team. After regulation, if an equal number of players remain on each team, a 3 minute sudden death will be played. Otherwise the team with the most amount of players on the court at the end of regulation will be declared the winner –--Overtime will begin with the same players that ended the game in a tie. –--Each team will get the same number of balls to start –--First team to eliminate 1 player from the other team will be the winner. –--No timeouts –--No SUBSTITUTIONS!!
8
Extra Rules -Mercy Rule- If a team is winning by 10 games, the team up will be awarded the win -Teams may not hold the ball for more than 5 seconds. -The start of the game all players must have their hand on the wall. *When players run to get the balls at the center line they must go BEHIND the attack line (10 ft. line on volleyball court) before they can throw it.)

An “OUT” is obtained by: a. Hitting an opposing player with a live thrown ball BELOW SHOULDERS (if a player ducks and gets hit above the shoulders, it is considered a legal throw and the player is out). b. Catching a live ball thrown by your opponent c. Causing an opponent to drop a held ball as a result of contact from a live ball (usually when a player is trying to block a thrown ball). d. Definition of a Live Ball: a thrown ball that strikes or is caught by an opposing player before contacting the ground or a ball held by another player. e. A deflected ball can still be caught as long as it has not contacted the ground. f. If a player is deemed to be not actively making an attempt to engage an opponent (hiding to protect players) the player shall be declared out. g. If a ball strikes more than one player before touching the ground or a held ball, all struck players are eliminated and must go to Jail. -- A player may block a thrown ball with a ball being held, provided the held ball is not dropped as a result of the contact of the thrown ball. -- If a deflected ball (either hitting a person or off a block) is caught, the person who threw the ball is out. In this case, the person hit with the ball remains in the game. -- Balls thrown out of bounds will be randomly thrown back into play by the supervisor/referee.
