2. 2 February 5, 2009 NERC created in 1968 –Board and committees initially limited to representation from each of the 9-10 Reliability Regions –Modified over the years to include provisions for minimum Canadian representation and governmental representatives –Added Non-utility industry stakeholder representation In 2001: –NERC governance changed to an independent Board with a Stakeholders (now Member Representatives) Committee –MRC representation is by industry sector –Most other NERC Committees generally follow the MRC in their membership structure –CIPC is an exception that still has representation by Region Evolution of Membership on NERC Committees
