There are 2 ways that organisms obtain their energy 1. Producer (aka Autotroph) 2. Consumer (aka Heterotroph)
3
Makes food by changing light energy of the sun into chemical energy, or food Ex. Plants, algae, some bacteria
4
Organisms that do not make their own food and must ‘consume’ it Ex. Humans, dogs, fungi (such as mushrooms), sharks, etc Mrs. Lalonde’s dog!
5
1) Herbivores Animals that obtain ALL of their energy from eating producers (plants) Ex. Cows, Elephants, Giraffes
6
2. Carnivores Obtain ALL of their energy from eating other organisms Lions, tigers, sharks, hawks
7
3. Omnivores Obtain energy by eating a mixture of plants and animals Ex humans, bears
8
