In this term we have been learning about space and if there is any body out there. We will explain what we have found out.

There are people in space they work in the international space station there has recently been a British astronaut go into space his name is Tim Peake. The space station is bigger than a football pitch and soon will be bigger. Tim Peake has to go into space for 6 months, he has to do spacewalks and fix the space station with the other men on the ISS, who are from Russia and America. There are six people currently in the ISS.

This image, taken with amicroscope is one of the most striking examples of a possible fossil. In 1976 NASA put 2 landers down on Mars. They were designed to look for signs of life. They carried out three experiments. All of the three had positive results. On the 6 th August 1996, another team of NASA scientists announced they had also discovered evidence of life on Mars. They had found a 4.5 Billion year old meteorite that came from Mars. Inside it were fossils of tiny life forms.

We will be telling you some facts about the current ISS members: Timothy Peake: Born in Chichester, England, on 7 April 1972, Tim is married with two sons. He has also completed the London Marathon. Other interests include quantum physics and piloting. Scott Joseph Kelly (born February 21, 1964) is an American astronaut, engineer and a retired U.S. Navy Captain. A veteran of three previous missions, Kelly was selected in November 2012 for a special year-long mission to the International Space Station, which began in March 2015. Timothy Kopra (born April 9, 1963) is an engineer, an officer in the United States Army and a NASA astronaut. He served aboard the International Space Station as a flight engineer for Expedition 20, returning to Earth aboard Space Shuttle Discovery on the STS-128 mission on September 11, 2009.

YURI IVANOVICH MALENCHENKO (COLONEL, RUSSIAN AIR FORCE): Awarded the Hero of the Russian Federation medal, the National Hero of Kazakhstan medal, Military award of excellence, Meritorious Service medals (3), Commendation medal, Achievement medal, Medal “70 years of the Soviet Armed Forces”. Sergey Aleksandrovich Volkov: Born April 1, 1973, in Chuhuiv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union) is a Russian cosmonaut and engineer. He was a member of two missions to the International Space Station. Mikhail Borisovich Kornienko: Served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station during Expedition 23/24 and was selected along with Scott Kelly for a year long mission aboard the ISS. At this moment in time these people are the only people in Space at the moment.

ISS: International Space Station Expedition: a journey especially by a group of people for a specific purpose (such as to explore a distant place or to do research). Meteorite: a piece of rock or metal that has fallen to the ground from outer space : a meteor that reaches the surface of the Earth without burning up entirely Lander: a space vehicle that is designed to land on a celestial body (as the moon or a planet).
