Purpose Identify proper make/model/size Verify that the user can: –wear comfortably without frequent adjusting –inspect and identify faulty parts –properly don –perform positive / negative user seal checks –maintain a sufficient seal through a series of representative movements

Appendix A, General Medical clearance prior to fit testing (e1) Training on donning Selection, most acceptable fit + and - pressure (user seal) checks Facial hair = NO TEST Worn 5 minutes prior to test with all other safety equipment that could interfere with the fit

Isoamyl Acetate Protocol Odor Threshold Screening –3 jars – odor free water – isoamyl acetate – separate room –must identify correct jar

Isoamyl Acetate Fit test protocol –clear drum liner –2 foot frame –proper cartridges –copy of exercises –paper towel –atmosphere stabilization (2 min.) –test exercises

Test exercises Normal breathing Deep breathing Side to Side Up and Down Talking Grimace (QNFT only) Bending over Normal breathing

Isoamyl Amyl Fit test protocol (continued) –smell odor TEST OVER –leave immediately –reselect –re-screening (olfactory fatigue?) –repeat fit test –break seal if and when a successful test is achieved
