The Parthenon was a temple made for Athena. The style of architecture used was the Doric type, but also contained some Ionic style. Larger and more decorated than regular Doric architecture and contained curving columns and base.

Where it was Built The Parthenon was built on the Acropolis, the hill rising at the center of Athens. The Acropolis was originally for the old kings of Athens. Eventually the Acropolis became known for the worshiping of the goddess Athena.

Iktinos and Kallikrates were the 2 architects for the Parthenon. Other ancient sources say that Karpion was another architect. Iktinos also was the architect of the Temple of Apollo at Bassae. No other information is known about Kallikrates. Temple of Apollo

It has been said that the Pythagorean ideas of ratios were used in the construction of The Parthenon. The ratio of 2:3 and its square 4:9 were fundamental for the Parthenon.

The Parthenon does still exist today, but since it was so old, there has been some wear and tear in the Parthenon. Renovations have been made to the Parthenon, but the renovations took a long time.

In my opinion, the Parthenon was a great piece of Architecture that I think was ahead of its time and for it to look so great after only 9 days of construction is amazing.

The Temple of Olympian Zeus is another architectural wonder that is located in Athens.
