1. Which element is found in large quantities in all four of your pie charts? 2. What is the 2nd most abundant element found in the human body? 3. Which element is found in large quantities in the Earth’s crust, but not in the other 3 pie charts? 4. The Earth’s Oceans are made primarily of Oxygen and Hydrogen. Explain why. 5. The Earth’s Oceans also contain Sodium and Chlorine. Explain why. 6. Which element is the most abundant in the atmosphere. Stretch Yourself: 7. Look up Hydrogen and Oxygen on the periodic table and note the Atomic Mass of Each. The chemical formula for water is H20. This means that there are twice as many hydrogen atoms as oxygen atoms. Explain why your pie chart shows that Hydrogen makes up only 10% of ocean water and oxygen makes up 86%.
