Suggested guideline for students Revising for approx 11 ½ hours a week. Research shows this can affect results by 1 grade higher. Using this planner you have approx 44 hours of free time a week. Leave your mobile phone away from your workspace. Close all internet tabs/pages not associated with revision. Organise your revision materials and workspace to avoid distractions when you start at 6.30pm.

Once you have your timetable then you should start your revision Choose the best place to revise – a place you can concentrate Avoid distractions Do not just read the information, process it by summarising it, use cue cards, mind maps, reduce information into note form Practice exam questions

Before Turn your notes into revision tools – make them visual Work through past papers, time yourself, get them marked Attend all available revision classes – if there isn’t one ask for one Keep testing yourself 8. Look after yourself – keep healthy 9. Avoid late nights – you need sleep 10. Create a revision plan – and stick to it

Before the exams Know your exam dates – display them in the house and write in your diary Try not to panic - set out everything you need to do and display it in your house.

Before the exam Being nervous for an exam is healthy it shows you care about it! Be prepared Find out about the exam - the time allowed, the topic, how many questions you need to answer Think positive Eat sensibly – your brain needs energy – eat a good breakfast, keep yourself hydrated – water helps with concentration Check you have the right equipment for the exam, organise it the night before Leave early on the day of the exam

During the exam Look through the paper – mark difficult questions, you could do them first Look at the marks available – shows how much detail you need Pace yourself – allow enough time to answer all of the questions required Write neatly

After Don’t panic Don’t compare answers Relax and prepare for your next exam Do not be tempted to check your answers Think positive
