Personality Your personality is the combination of characteristics that make you different from every other person Characteristics fall into three categories: –Emotional –Social –Intellectual

Self-Concept The way that you see yourself is your self- concept. Self-concept is influenced by: –Experiences that you have had –What people say to you –What you say to yourself

Realistic Self-Concept Take pleasure in your strengths Take pleasure in your good qualities Acknowledge your weaknesses Acknowledge your limitations Work on those areas in which you can improve

Self-Esteem Your self-esteem is the value or importance you place on yourself. Self-esteem can be high, low or anywhere in between.

Give Yourself a Self-Esteem Boost Learn to accept praise Focus on your strengths Accept yourself as you are Learn from your mistakes Use your strengths to help others Take responsibility for your own life

Potential Potential is the capability of becoming more than you are right now.

Procrastination Procrastination is the tendency to put off doing something until later. People who constantly procrastinate often fail to make use of their potential.

Competence Competence means having the qualities and the skills needed to perform a task or participate fully in an activity. There are degrees of competency.

Confidence Confidence mean believing in yourself and in your abilities. Confidence grows stronger each time you succeed. Common characteristics of confident people: –Self-assurance –Self-control –Willingness to take responsible risks –Positive self-concept and high self-esteem

Qualities that Help You To Meet Challenges Resilient – The ability to recover from or adjust to change or misfortune Persevere – To work patiently to overcome challenges.

A Positive Attitude Adaptability, resilience, and perseverance, along with a positive attitude, help people keep going even when they feel discouraged
