2. The Library of Congress is a large building that was built in Washington D.C in 1800. The Library of Congress is one of the largest and most valuable libraries in the world! One department of The Library of Congress administers the copyright laws. The first Library of Congress was destroyed in 1814 when the British burned the Capitol.

3. The Library of Congress works like any other library. The Library of Congress does research for members of Congress. In 2006 it completed more than 930,000 research assignments.

4. There are 130 million items in the library of congress and 530 miles of bookshelves. There are 35 million books and 61 million manuscripts, but in total there are about 160 million items. There are also 4.8 million maps and 1million motion pictures! There are also 2.7 million recordings, 12 million photographs, and 5 million music items!
