Jesus was “meek and lowly in heart”; the most humble man to ever live! Matt. 11:29; Phil. 2:5-8 But His humility did not prevent Him from exercising leadership: 1 Pet. 5:4 Was Jesus a Mr. Milquetoast? Jesus dished out some of the most scathing rebukes recorded in Scripture: Matt. 19:13-15; 21:12-13; Matt. 23 But Jesus was just as humble in Matthew 21 and 23 as He was in chapter 19. Many believe humility requires this type of behavior. In reality such a person is exhibiting false humility. Such a person is proud of being humble! Lk. 18:11-12 Humility isn’t the cause of such a situation; it’s the solution: Phil. 2:3-4; Jn. 19:11 8 The Truth About Humility

True humility replaces self-seeking with seeking first the kingdom of God: Matt. 6:33 True humility requires: Forsaking one’s self-will for God’s will: Matt. 7:21 Suppressing one’s self-confidence for confidence in God: 2 Tim. 1:12 Substituting self-exaltation with exaltation by God: 1 Pet. 5:6 9 “Lord, thy love at last has conquered: None of self, and all of Thee.”
