Purpose To provide Mr. Maxwell the concept for the JROTC Service Learning Activity, and to receive approval for execution.

Brief History 1.7 million more African Americans voted in 2012 than 2008 In 2012, for the first time, African Americans outvoted whites. 66% of African Americans Voted in 2012 64.1% of whites voted in 2012.

Service Learning Activity The Creekside JROTC program is seeking approval to conduct a Voter Registration Drive with a goal to register 100 Seniors, so they are eligible to vote in the 2016 national, state, and local elections.

Goals Register 100 seniors/students(18 years or older) for the Voter Registration Drive for the upcoming election to coincide with the 100th year anniversary of JROTC. To ensure everyone understands the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Conduct a successful Voter Registration Drive. Register faculty and staff who have never registered before. Get more young people involved in the government, politics, and voting process. Goes hand in hand with the JROTC curriculum. Meet Cadet Command requirements of week long service activity to coincide with ROTC 100 th Anniversary

JROTC Curriculum Voter Registration correlations with JROTC in 3 units. Unit 1: Citizen in Action - Getting Involved Unit 2:Leadership Theory & Application -Leading Situation -Knowing how to lead Unit 6: Citizenship in American History & Government. -Citizenship Skills -Helping the community

Plan of Action Assign each company in JROTC with a task to help with our Service Learning Project. LET 1 & LET 2- Messaging/Promoting LET 3 & LET 4- Enforcing Provide good advertisement to get the word out in a timely matter. Find and speak to the students who will be eligible to register to vote.

Training: Jan-Mar 16 Cadets will receive Voter Education Training via Fulton County Cadets will practice public speaking and social interaction Cadets will then research proper materials required for registration such as photo identification, birth certificates. Cadets will research when and where polls will take place around the county Cadets will receive instruction on the two main political parties.

Execution: 18-23 Apr 16 Begin promoting the Voter Registration drive in January Training will be conducted in February by the Fulton County Voter Registration Office. Execute voter registration drive the week of 18-23 April

Reflection and Integration Reflection will be ongoing through the use of learning logs, and After Action Review Written Individual reflection from students Assessments throughout the process will allow adjustments to timeline and planned actions. Capture results on goals. Discuss continuation current activity and entertain ideas for future activities.

Recommendation Recommend Mr. Maxwell concur with concept and approve execution.
